Jousts in Sète JOUSTS
From june to september, the canals of Sete, Agde, Palavas les Flots or le Grau du Roi are the natural setting of the jousts' tournaments. Dressed in white, naked feet on the boats' planks, holding pavois to protect themselves, a wood lance in the other hand, jousters are in confrontation in a peculiar fight. In Sete, on august the 25th, Saint Louis' Day, theses meetings rise the crowds' enthousiasm.

 


BULLFIGHTS' TRADITIONS
Camargue racesFerias, Camargue races, encierro, abrivado, bandido, in Nimes or Beziers, we celebrate the king bull. Ferias are a tradition, but it's above all a pretext for feast. From Easter to october, the Small Camargue is the theater of Camargue races, which consists in taking off the bull its roundel, small red ragscrap between its horns with a hook


Montpellier FESTIVALS
There is no need to introduce Montpellier the gifted child anymore, tourism paradise, which offers everything : architecture, culture, leisure. The regional capital is the place of famous festivals such as Montpellier dance, the Mediterranean Movie Festival, the Actors' Spring Festival or the famous Radio France and Montpellier Festivals.

The Carre of Arts in NimesLights and landscapes of this region have inspired lots of artists. The Gevaudan BeastLEGENDS AND TOTEMIC ANIMALS
In the heart of myth and legends of Languedoc Roussillon. You will be told the story of the Gevaudan Beast that raged in the Langogne region where about a hundred of victims have been counted. Lots of writers wore out some ink in this story, never drilling the mystery. In lots of towns and villages in the heart of the Herault departement, inhabitants chose animals as totemic symbols : Meze Bull, Montagnac Goat, Pezenas Foal …. The " flying beef " in Saint Ambroix (Gard), or the Bear's feast in Prats des Mollo (Pyrenees Orientales)
